Mr. Buckminster is Vice Chairman of American Express. He plays a central role in driving the overall strategic direction of the company and accelerating growth opportunities globally. He also leads several areas of the organization including Global Advertising and Brand Management, China Operations, and Enterprise Innovation Partners which is responsible for digital incubation, strategic partnerships, and corporate development.
Mr. Buckminster has held many roles since joining the company in 1985, including Group President of Global Consumer Services, President, Global Network & International Card Services, President, International Consumer and Small Business Services, Regional President for Latin America, Canada, and Caribbean, and General Manager, International Lending and Insurance Services. Mr. Buckminster joined American Express as part of the Graduate Management Summer Intern Program.
Mr. Buckminster serves on the Board of Trustees for the Harlem Children’s Zone, and is a member of the Dean’s Advisory Board at Boston University Questrom School of Business. He holds a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Boston University, and an MBA from New York University.
