Andrés Espinosa currently serves as Chief Credit Officer of American Express, a role he assumed in 2015. As CCO, Andrés is responsible for the enterprise’s credit, fraud, and predictive decisioning functions. Under his leadership, American Express has outpaced competitor revenue growth, while maintaining fraud and credit loss rates half of the industry. Additionally, he is a member of the American Express Executive Committee, which develops the company’s strategic direction and key policies.

Andrés started his career at American Express in 1994. He has since served in a wide range of roles across revenue management and risk management functions. Throughout his tenure, Andrés has collaborated with enterprise partners to fundamentally transform the company’s infrastructure and strategies, including successfully upgraded core decisioning engines to incorporate cutting edge machine learning technology.

A native of Ecuador, Andrés is deeply committed to advancing economic opportunities and proudly serves as a board member for the Hispanic Scholarship Fund. Additionally, Andrés is passionate about developing the next generation of leaders and works as an executive sponsor for the Hispanic Origin and Latin American Council at American Express.

A firm believer in continuing education, Andrés holds a Doctorate in economics from North Carolina State University, a Master of Science degree in agricultural economics from Kansas State University, and a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science from Kansas State University.

Outside of work, Andrés resides in New Jersey with his wife and their three children. He is an unaccomplished - but persistent - fly fisherman and long-distance runner.
