Rafael Marquez is President, International Card Services (ICS) and is responsible for driving financial results and unlocking growth opportunities for the company’s international issuing activities. Under his leadership, ICS has been one of the company’s fastest growing segments, driven by deeper relationships with premium consumers and small businesses and support for Middle and Large-Market Corporations across dozens of countries where American Express operates as a proprietary card issuer. He is a member of the American Express Executive Committee and serves as an executive officer of the company.
During his tenure with the company, Mr. Marquez has worked in several countries leading key lines of business. Since joining American Express in 1999, he has served in a number of roles overseeing small business services, acquisition and strategic partnerships for Mexico; Country Manager of Spain and the United Kingdom; Executive Vice President of Consumer Europe, EMEA Joint Ventures and Member Engagement; and President of International Consumer Services and the Global Loyalty Coalition business. Prior to American Express, he worked for ScotiaBank and BBVA Bancomer in Mexico.
Mr. Marquez holds a BE Industrial Engineering degree from Universidad Panamericana and an Executive MBA from IPADE.
