Anré Williams is Group President of American Express’ Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) organization, a role he assumed in February 2018. In this position, he leads the businesses that manage and evolve important partnerships for the company with key stakeholders, including merchants, loyalty coalitions, banks and strategic partners.

As head of GMNS, Anré oversees the following businesses: Global Merchant Services (GMS), which manages the relationships with the millions of merchants around the world that accept American Express; Global Loyalty Coalition, which includes the Payback rewards programs internationally; Global Network Services, which runs the company’s payments network and manages bank partnerships globally; and Strategic Partnerships, which leads the negotiations and relationships with American Express’ most strategic global partners.

Anré began his career at American Express in 1990 in marketing roles supporting a number of products and initiatives, including the American Express Platinum Card. He then served in the Small Business division, where he led new product development and advertising.

He joined Corporate Payments in 1999, and was promoted to roles of increasing responsibility, including President, Global Corporate Payments. In this position, he led the business that markets the American Express Corporate Card, Corporate Purchasing Solutions and other payment products to mid-size companies and large corporations around the world.

He became President of GMS in November 2011, leading the company’s worldwide merchant business. In October 2015, he added oversight of Global Loyalty Coalition and the Global Network Business. In March 2017, he expanded his responsibilities to include overseeing the newly created Strategic Partnerships group.

Anré serves on the Board of Illinois Tool Works Inc. He is co-chair of the U.S. Travel Association CEO Roundtable, on the USA Track & Field Foundation Board, and a member of the Board of Advisors of The Wharton School.

He earned his BA from Stanford University and his MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.
