Mr. Nigro is the Chief Credit Officer (CCO) of American Express. As CCO, Mr. Nigro is responsible for the enterprise’s credit and fraud risk management, and predictive decisioning functions. He is a member of the American Express Executive Committee, which develops the company’s strategic direction and determines its key policies.
Mr. Nigro was previously the Chief Risk Officer (CRO) of American Express and American Express National Bank (AENB). As CRO, he was responsible for independent risk oversight and governance of enterprise risks for the Company, ensuring safety and soundness, and maintaining the company-wide risk appetite framework. Mr. Nigro has a deep understanding of the lending and payments industry, and extensive experience in managing through business cycles, market discontinuity and global-scale events such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Mr. Nigro started his career at American Express as part of the U.S. Consumer Finance group and has served in various senior leadership roles across the Finance, Credit and Fraud Risk, and Enterprise Risk and Compliance organizations globally.
Mr. Nigro earned a Master of Business Administration in Finance from NYU and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Villanova University.
