Walter J. Clayton III
Mr. Clayton is the former Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), where he was also a member of the President’s Working Group on Financial Markets, the Financial Stability Board, the International Organization of Securities Commissions, and the Financial Stability Oversight Council.
Prior to his tenure as SEC Chairman, Mr. Clayton spent over 20 years at the global law firm Sullivan & Cromwell LLP, where he was a member of the firm’s management committee, co-managing partner of its General Practice Group and co-head of its Cybersecurity Group, advising clients on high-profile and complex transactions, including M&A agreements and capital markets offerings, as well as legal and regulatory matters. Following his tenure as SEC Chairman, he rejoined Sullivan & Cromwell, where he currently serves as Senior Policy Advisor and Of Counsel, advising companies and public institutions on governance, markets and regulatory matters.
Mr. Clayton serves on the Board of Directors of Apollo Global Management Inc. and is a member of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.’s System Resolution Advisory Committee. He also serves as an advisor to several emerging technology firms in the digital asset space.
